Ripert was a well known star of French cinema and theatre with lots of film credits in the 1940s and ’50s as you can see on her IMDB page. Do a Google image search under her name and prepare to be wowed at what you see. I am sure that at the reunion she will be remembered and I would like to hear how she ended up being cast for FIA and how her character was developed.

They have 8 levels – 2 beginner, 4 intermediate, and 2 advanced. The first day you are there, you take an extensive test to determine the best level for you. You’ll end up in a class with 8 or 9 others at the same level. It’s total immersion – they even threaten to fine you “un Euro par mot” for every non-French word you speak on the campus. They provide breakfast and a hot lunch, so you’re immersed in French for 8-9 hours each day. It’s not inexpensive, but it’s the best way to learn or improve your French quickly.

Apparently the exercise got out of hand, and that’s what started the complaints.

By the way, LMAO on Professeur Capretz’s: “Observez le petit Français qui découvre la Vénus de Milo ( Leçon 23). Qu’est-ce qu’il demande : « Dis, Papa, pourquoi elle n’a pas de bras ? Il ne demande pas « Why doesn’t she have a bra ? » … Parce qu’il est Français !”

I have been to this school two times. Although they don’t use French In Action, the teaching staff is wonderful and you will be fully immersed in French the entire time you are there. They are located in the Rhone-Alps region of France. If you would prefer to stay in Paris or some other region, you will find plenty of schools just by doing a google search. Rumor has it: it will be at Yale; for some weekend in the fall so teachers can come; it will feature a cast reunion of some sort and, of course, LE PROFESSEUR!!!

My wife and I plan to go to France this summer with our 12 year old grandson to take courses in French for two or three weeks. We would like to find a school in France in which we can ALL take a course and which uses French in Action.
